Amad is set to miss Manchester United’s game against Brentford tomorrow

The winger has been given compassionate leave by United boss Ruben Amorim, who has given Amad as much time as he needs to deal with the loss.

The 23-year-old has started United’s last four League games, playing as a wing-back and in a more advanced role, as he did in last weekend’s 2-1 win over rivals, Chelsea, at Old Trafford.

“For Amad, we are here for him, it’s a tough moment. In these kind of moments it’s not the most important thing [football]. We can win without Amad but also we want to win for Amad.”

Also on trying to win back-to-back League games for the first time since he was confirmed manager, Amorim said: “It’s really important for us to have that sense of urgency that we have to win, no matter what.

“For me, we cannot control the result of the game, but to start the game the way we started against Chelsea, against Arsenal, against Burnley, and to have the feeling we can win every match.”

It’s still how much time the Ivory Coast international will need away before he returns to the squad.
